Robot (2012)

If I took you apart,

What would I find?

Piece by piece

I examine your heart, your flesh,

To find wires and sparks,

Automated responses programmed

In your brain.

A great work of fake,

A mechanical jumble

Of ‘I knows’ and ‘actually’,

A walking, breathing mess

Of ‘what I want to hear’,

Long pauses,

‘Warning!’ circuits

The expanse of wires

regulating your brain.

I’ve caught you

In your trap,

I’ve unhinged you.

    1. Thank you!
      I agree!
I wrote this poem in 2012 when I was going through a crazy and emotional time. Our most turbulent times do bring out some of our best work I think.
Thanks for your kind words. 😊
