What I’ve Learned In Six Months of Blogging

My work space

It is officially the six month mark since I began blogging! This is an exciting milestone for me as I have kept up with writing, met some awesome fellow bloggers, and learned more about myself in the process.

I wrote a previous post about what I learned in my first three months of blogging, which you can read HERE. I’d like to pass on a few additional tips I have learned for anyone that is just starting out.

CONSISTENCY IS KEY: Write, write, write, anytime and every time something comes to you. Everything you write may not make it on your blog, but some of my best material has come just from tinkering around with an idea. Inspiration can hit out of nowhere, but it is important to train your mind and body to sit down and write everyday. I take it seriously and treat it like a job.

SCHEDULE BLOG POSTS AHEAD OF TIME: A few of my fellow bloggers passed this tip onto me and I am so thankful I tried this out. Scheduling posts ahead of time is a life saver! It is great if you want to have a posting schedule and saves from the hassle of feeling like you MUST produce blog content every day. I have now written enough and found a good pace to schedule posts two weeks ahead of time. I feel like going forward this will be great for this busy mom.

USE SOCIAL MEDIA: Social media is a great way to promote your blog and connect with people on a different platform. I currently have a FB page I share some of my blog content to and I utilize Instagram stories to share when I have a new post and sometimes I like to post a picture that goes with my content for the day.

My final tip for this six month junction…

REMEMBER WHY YOU STARTED BLOGGING: It is so easy (speaking for myself) to get caught up and overwhelmed with all there is to learn about blogging, marketing, media, etc. I am ambitious and I have to remind myself from time to time that nothing happens overnight. I began blogging with the intent of enjoying the process, sharing my experiences, and hopefully being a help to someone in need. If blogging becomes more work and less fun, then I think it’s time to take a step back and re-evaluate.

I hope some of these tips were helpful! I will write a new post with what I learned once I reach my first year of blogging! Thanks for following along.

  1. Very good tips! I have never scheduled posts ahead of time but I’m thinking about doing it, would be handy at times. Even just having some posts done and sitting in drafts ahead of time to use when I’m having a hard time thinking of something to write, or for me, just being in too much pain to concentrate. Anyway, good tips to share for sure!
